
Beagle (English Beagle)
This small hound that resembles a small English Foxhound has a small short coat and is relatively easy to care for. It has long, wide ears, a black nose with full nostrils, eyes with a pleading expression and a distinct bark whenever they hunt. The beagle is a lively dog, gentle and responds positively to humans.
Calm, intelligent, and brave, the Beagle is excellent with children but should be allowed with cats or other household animals unless they are trained when young to socialize with them.
They have a mind of their own that is why they require patient and extensive training. The Beagles are determined and watchful but bore easily if they are left alone, that is why most people buy two dogs if they are gone for a long time. It has a loud cry that expresses whenever something is wrong and may sometimes disturb family and neighbors. Beagles have a tendency to follow their noses and may often go exploring if left unattended.
Some of the dogs may be prone to heart disease, epilepsy or have chances of suffering from eye and back problems. Generally, the dogs live from 12 to 15 years, they are energetic and need plenty of exercise. A small yard can take care of this and, whenever walking your dog, in case it might be tempted to explore. It coat with short hairs is easy to look after, with a firm bristle brush and bathed with a mild soap whenever you see it fit. Keep the nail trimmed and check its ears for any sign of infection.
